Events are a blast in SecondLife, I enjoy them greatly, and have gotten pretty methodical about my shopping. You see, I not only go shop for myself, but I make a list of all the things I want to buy Mrs. Raynier. It is always a great perk when a vendor has gifting options that way I can send her all the things! We then head on over to the event and shop together, pointing out what we like what colors or patterns we prefer. If the event is ultra crowded we wait a few days so we can go together.

I have had conversations here and there with other residents about events in SL and often they do not know where to keep track of what is going on, or haven’t heard about certain events on the proverbial SL street. I always point residents to SeraphimSL and urge them to add Seraphim to their RSS reader or subscribe in some fashion to keep up to date with the events they cover.

Another hang-up some residents have mentioned, and this is mainly the guys, feeling there is nothing at those events for the dudes. Not true! For example, this round of Collabor88 has Atro Patena putting out a new version of Nicholas, aptly named Nicholas II. We also of course thankfully have the amazing event The Men’s Department which has been a fantastic event for men BUT not limited to just the male gender. That’s what I love about events, you can find a little of everything at most of them, it just takes a little looking around and often the courage to look outside the box.

Take this great bow-tie necklace from Yummy, you may approach it with the thought that it is for girls only, well I challenge that and say nay, it’s for anyone that it fits their style, and we all know how much I love my bow-ties in real life and SL, so for me it was a must wear.

Think outside the box and dare to be yourself, no matter what the packaging shows, if it appeals to you, wear it!

Collabor88 has opened its doors with a brand new mesh build and a stunningly charming theme of New Romance! Full of vibrant colors and lively patterns, the entire collaboration speaks of Spring and new beginnings. Shed those parkas and heavy wool mittens, it’s time for sheer flowing materials, wispy wind blown hair and the fun of the outdoors.

The new layout of the build is grand. I was able to move around nearly effortlessly and it rezzed rapidly. I always take my draw distance down to the minimum and lower the amount of avatars to render to help with the load. The vibrant color scheme is brought to us by Sugar Heartsdale, entitled New Romance it truly does conjure up love and life which I embrace wholeheartedly. Dress To Impress

Dress to impress, that is what I was always told by my parents in regards to many situations: dates, interviews, social events, the theater, opera, etc. But most of all be comfortable in your own skin. I love to dress in vests and bowties, they snazz up a simple white dress shirt and can be worn with jeans or slacks.

Damien Fate has just released the new Edward suit line at FATEwear. This suit goes far beyond anything else he has released and that is saying a great deal as he strives already to go above and beyond. The Edward line contains 7 different looks! You can wear it in a full three piece suit (shirt, tie, waistcoat, jacket) or you can casual it down to the point you only wear the shirt untucked, no tie. With every combo in between and an exceptional over the shoulder jacket option (including animation) the dapper dresser has only the limitation of his imagination with this new line.

No matter what your needs are in SL, do yourself a favor and at least own one great suit. As with real life, owning a black three piece suit can be used for just about anything that arises save for the black tie tuxedo only situation. I learned long ago that a man that owns a nice suit, knows how to wear it, accessorize it, and liven it up can certainly impress. A real life tip, learn to tie different tie knots. Do not rely only on the Windsor knot for your ties! You can buy books to learn or consult youtube! My favorite is the Eldredge knot.

The Eldredge Knot

When I wear this knot on my tie, I always get asked, “Hey, what kind of knot is that?” It is a great conversation starter and can definitely earn you some respect. Spice it up with a classy tie pin or clip, but most importantly wear it with pride. Check out this great tutorial on how to tie the Eldredge knot. Also check out the Trinity knot, it’s another of my favorites!

A good collection of bowties and ties can certainly change the way your clothing looks, and if you feel as if your closet has gotten drab, try buying a new tie, learning a new knot and putting it with a shirt you haven’t worn in awhile, it’s bound to give it some new life.

Collabor88 September Preview: Round My Hometown, Memories Are Fresh

The 8th of the month is fast approaching and you know what that means, Collabor88 time! I have the privilege and absolute honor to bring you a sneak peek of this round of Collabor88. I was thrilled to see Barnesworth Anubis created this extremely detailed and just gorgeous New Orleans Studio. As with all BA builds you get the lush textures, roomy areas to roam and call home. My hometown is New Orleans so you can imagine how excited I was to rez it on my land and share it with you.
