Man Space

The Men’s Department this round is a great place to get the guys in your life awesome Valentine’s Day gifts.  You know it can be hard to shop for dudes, especially if they are not very into clothes.  This is an aspect of The Men’s Department that I really like, it’s not all about clothes!  You have a wide array of decor and furnishings for your house.  In this case I made a small man space with all TMD items to give you an idea of the items you can put on your list for that special guy or gal in your life.  Again, another part of the TMD that I love, it’s not just for the dudes!

Isla Gaelach of Cheeky Pea created the amazing MapMe Antigue letters for this round and I gotta tell ya, mesh letters with map roads upon them, badass!  They also come in the non-antique.

floorplan has two items to offer this TMD and one is a must have for all Sci Fi and 80′s fans.  The Flux Capacitor!  It has beautiful detail and it flashes with subtle strobe light.  Also the oh deer wall decor, which I really like, the antlers are just perfect.

Grab a seat in the new Shell chairs from HANDverk, the detail is fabulous.

Not sure what to wear for Valentine’s day, go grab this great shirt/tie/cardigan ensemble from Pumpkin.  Two versions, one with hearts on the shirt and one in plain white.  Go for the hearts, that special someone will love them!

Don’t like to be perfectly shaved, me either, but clean up a bit more for Valentine’s day, especially around the mouth, makes that kiss a helluvalot better!  The jawline beards from bleak are perfect for this and come in dark and light.

Couple the cardigan with this modern looking metallic ring from KOSH, it has a matching necklace too.

Dress To Impress

Dress to impress, that is what I was always told by my parents in regards to many situations: dates, interviews, social events, the theater, opera, etc.  But most of all be comfortable in your own skin.  I love to dress in vests and bowties, they snazz up a simple white dress shirt and can be worn with jeans or slacks.

Damien Fate has just released the new Edward suit line at FATEwear.  This suit goes far beyond anything else he has released and that is saying a great deal as he strives already to go above and beyond.  The Edward line contains 7 different looks!  You can wear it in a full three piece suit (shirt, tie, waistcoat, jacket) or you can casual it down to the point you only wear the shirt untucked, no tie.  With every combo in between and an exceptional over the shoulder jacket option (including animation) the dapper dresser has only the limitation of his imagination with this new line.

No matter what your needs are in SL, do yourself a favor and at least own one great suit.  As with real life, owning a black three piece suit can be used for just about anything that arises save for the black tie tuxedo only situation.  I learned long ago that a man that owns a nice suit, knows how to wear it, accessorize it, and liven it up can certainly impress.  A real life tip, learn to tie different tie knots.  Do not rely only on the Windsor knot for your ties!  You can buy books to learn or consult youtube!  My favorite is the Eldredge knot.

The Eldredge Knot

When I wear this knot on my tie, I always get asked, “Hey, what kind of knot is that?”  It is a great conversation starter and can definitely earn you some respect.  Spice it up with a classy tie pin or clip, but most importantly wear it with pride.  Check out this great tutorial on how to tie the Eldredge knot.  Also check out the Trinity knot, it’s another of my favorites!

A good collection of bowties and ties can certainly change the way your clothing looks, and if you feel as if your closet has gotten drab, try buying a new tie, learning a new knot and putting it with a shirt you haven’t worn in awhile, it’s bound to give it some new life.

Spring Into Color

I am honored to be participating in Linden Labs Fresh Fashion: A Spring Fashion Event which will be taking place from March 5th to March 8th. My submission for the event focuses on springing your wardrobe to life. You can find the blog entry here as well as below.

I am also discussing a few topics in the Fashion Forums. Come on by and participate, I’d love to see you there!

Spring, a time to wash away the monochrome hues in a refreshing rain of color.  We see the tapestry around us turn from gloomy grays and spark alive with vibrant pastels, reds, blues, and greens.  Flowers bursts forth from the land and paints the rolling hills with  their blooming palette of color.

As the world washes away Winter’s grays, so should we do the same to our wardrobes.  Don’t let the layers bog you down, peel them away and let the colors cover you like they are covering the Spring time season.

Spring is a time for activities, from baby showers, weddings, holidays, barbecues, parties and vacations.  You need to gear up for such occasions, which is a perfect opportunity to make a few “go to” outfits  so you are prepared for all of the Springtime activities.

Here are a few looks that I put together for this Spring.  I normally wear a great deal of red, as it is my favorite color.  This Spring I wanted to embrace more colors into my wardrobe.

My first outfit is one I put together to wear for the following:

1. a date at the docks
2. the carnival
3. a barbecue
4. sailing
5. any outdoor gathering

Spring Outfit 1

The second outfit is more fitting for the evening or night-time.  Whether you are going out with friends or on a date with that special someone, a little bit of layers can dress up a casual outfit like this.  Spring nights can be chilly, a jacket helps as it is not only an option to keep warm but to turn very casual into casual dressy.  I love to wear bow-ties, this gingham print reminds me of Spring no matter the color which made it perfect for this outfit.

My final outfit is more formal.  This would not be appropriate to wear to a Spring wedding however, so please keep that in mind.  Unless the wedding party requests you wear white, you should never do so.  White is clean and classy, you can put any color with it from a shirt to the accessories.  Do not be afraid to mix your color palette.

Spring is vibrant and lively, your wardrobe should be too!  Most importantly, have fun with your clothing.  They are an extension of you, your personality and quirks, the image you project is the one that comes to life when you embrace what you enjoy wearing.  Enjoy your Spring!

An Important Date

Dress for the occasion.  What does that mean?  It is rather simply, dress appropriately for the event or function you have been invited to.

Many  make the mistake of dressing too elaborately or too casually to events such as weddings.  There are some key golden rules for such a function.  Do not try to outdo the bride, it is her day, she is to be the most fabulous without a doubt.

If you are asked to dress a certain way, comply, or sit the event out.  When in doubt, go with the classics.  For men, a suit and tie works great.

REDGRAVE just released a great suit that I snatched up for such an occasion.  Though the suit comes with a black tie and black bow-tie option, I added one of my bow-ties from my huge  bow-tie collection, a pair of my favorite shoes and am set to enjoy a special afternoon.

If you do not own a suit, I urge you to get one.  Black and gray are classic colors that you can switch up with different ties and shirts.  Don’t wait for an occasion to arise, that way you don’t have to rush and be flustered, usually resulting in not wanting to go.  Plus, a special date with that special someone makes for a great time to suit up!

Seasons Gatcha!

The Seasons Hunt was by far my utmost favorite hunt in Second Life.  I remember discovering it when I was a new resident and how much it opened up my eyes to amazing shops that I still frequent today.  The main one is Fir & Mna, a find I will cherish always for it’s definitely my style.   When the Seasons Hunt came to an end, I know I was really bummed!  So when the little birdies came out of their hiding places in the snow covered trees and whispered of something amazing to come, my ears perked and my shopaholic heart pitter-pattered.

The Seasons Gatcha Event: WINTER

Each season, we will be given a gatcha event!  I love gatchas, they are like gambling for shoppers and I so love to gamble.  You never know what you gonna get, and that is part of the fun!  I really love when a rare item makes my eyes go all dreamy and my palms itch to own it.  I hit the gatcha vendor over and over until I get it, and a few times I get really lucky and get them on first go.

I dragged Mrs. Raynier around the beautifully decorated gatcha area located on the My Pants sim and we had a blast.  We spent obscene money but every penny was well worth it.  I put together some of my great finds and lounged around on my new bed from the event, waiting for Mrs. Raynier to get home.  I’m hoping she’ll want to see whats beneath the hat! *wink wink*
